About the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) The LMB, “The Nobel Prize Factory”, enables scientists to tackle difficult, long-term research problems – such as biology of immunity and cancer, molecular origins of neurodegenerative diseases, synthetic biology and in vitro evolution, and intercellular signalling and membrane trafficking - and to publish their work and collaborate internationally, and to exploit their discoveries through patents, licensing and business start-ups. LMB’s strategy is to attract and retain outstanding scientists and give them the freedom and resources to pursue the opportunities they recognise as fundamentally important to their area of molecular science. Its new building provides first-class facilities for over 400 scientists at the hub of one of the largest and most internationally competitive concentrations of healthcare-related talent and enterprise in Europe. Our visit will cover a range of scientific areas with the opportunity to speak to relevant researchers, and will also include a tour of its recently-opened lovely new building.
