Tanushree Agarwal

Department of Chemistry

Tanushree Agarwal's research explores biomolecular condensates, essential protein/nucleic acid clusters in cells that lack membranes, playing key roles in cellular functions and linked to diseases like neurodegeneration and cancer. She has developed Ex Vivo PhaseScan, a method combining microfluidics and cellular lysates to study these clusters more accurately. By recreating stress granules and nucleoli, she mapped their formation with high-resolution phase diagrams and identified factors influencing their development. She also examined how disease-related mutations affect these clusters. This work could lead to new therapies by enhancing the understanding of cellular organization and disease mechanisms.
